Big Breaks from Los Relámpagos

My jet lag is kicking in – so before I pass out on my sofa I wanted to toss up something I found in Barcelona. Even though Los Relámpagos (the lightning) actually hail from Granada, this was probably my best find while I was in Spain. The group consists of  singer/composer Miguel Ríos who seems to have had a pretty successful career in the modern Spanish (Iberian) rock genre. Anyway, that’s all I can write for now without falling to the ground. Enjoy…….

This is dope. I’d only heard four other songs by these guys — three on the “Guitar Mood” comp, plus their big hit “Nocturno,” all instrumentals like this one but more in a Ventures vein, so I’d come to expect something more surfy not funky and then bam, you hit me with “Bwana.” A nice find indeed.

Nice! I recently found a 1965 Los Relampagos LP in a store just a few blocks from my house, but I’d rather have found it in Barcelona. Great stuff, and that’s a really cool cover.
